Although it may seem trivial, properly choosing the work surface that you will use to assemble your WONDER Artistic Models models is a determining task to guarantee the enjoyment of your experience.
The assembly of our models is designed to be a fun experience, in many cases challenging, but above all very enjoyable.
The idea is that you can relax while developing your motor skills, your focus of attention, your creativity and your sense of self-realization by knowing you are capable of building something beautiful and complex with your own hands.
To achieve this, it is essential that the space in which the magic of turning wooden templates into a beautiful, anatomically precise model of animal life will happen is conditioned in the best way, so that you are comfortable throughout the process and can focus your attention on build the structures that will later give life to your model.
And a vital part of conditioning your space is choosing a comfortable and, above all, firm and flat work surface.
Why is it important to have a firm, flat surface when assembling your models?
- When making the assemblies we will be applying different types of force. In this context, a firm surface will give us the necessary support to be able to apply said force in a directed manner and maintaining the stability of all the elements that we will be manipulating.
- To make many assemblies we will need the support of this type of flat and firm surface, which will allow us to apply pressure from above to achieve neat and more precise assemblies.
- Having a firm and flat place to support the pieces will allow us to place the elements as we build them, thanks to which we will be able to have a clear and orderly view of how our assembly process is going.
When assembling your models, the more comfortable you are, the more enjoyment you will have. Working in an uneven and unstable space will only arouse frustration and prevent you from enjoying the process of creating an anatomically accurate fauna model with your own hands…
… and enjoying the process is the most important thing!
So when choosing the surface on which you will assemble your models, make it a priority to choose a table that is flat and firm that works with you instead of against you, we guarantee that you will appreciate it throughout the process!
What should I take into account when choosing my work surface?
Here we tell you some essential aspects so that your assembly experience is very satisfactory:
- Make sure you have ample space so you can spread out the templates, parts, and tools comfortably.
- Prioritize using a table, avoid soft or very moving surfaces, such as a bed or sofa.
- Make sure the surface is clean, free of dirt or grease. Wood is a material with a high level of absorption, so if there is dirt or grease on the surface, it is very possible that it will absorb it.
- Confirm that the surface you have chosen is stable: check that the table legs are level and that the work area does not have bumps or inclinations that could later be uncomfortable.
- Press the table a little firmly from above and see how solid and sturdy it is. You don’t need something super hard, but it will be much better to work on a surface that doesn’t sink when you apply pressure from above.
- Optionally, you can use a cutting mat like the one in the images below to protect the surface where you will make the assemblies. If you do not have such a base, you can place any other firm element that allows you to work with confidence on your table. You can also use a tablecloth or some fabric, but in that case make sure it is completely stretched and extended so that a surface with wrinkles and instability is not generated.
