Description

Pliosaurs were some of the most fearsome and enigmatic prehistoric marine creatures. They were the top predators of their time, dominating the seas during the Jurassic period. Fossils of this group have been found around the world.

To date, several species have been described, and although they all share many similarities in their peculiar proportions, our model is based on the one that was initially named “Predator X” and is now known as the Pliosaurus funkey.

This model is in 1:20 scale. Given the estimated dimensions of the funkei pliosaur, the model is a good size, robust and very elegant, and has articulated jaw, neck and fins. It is certainly a must-have in the collection to have a scale museum in your own home.

I bought this model of predator X less then a week ago along with a dimetrodon model. Not only was I surprised at how fast they arrived but by the detail of these wood cut models. They’re very realistic and of good size, well worth the price of them.

This model was the first I was able to do without video assistance, and it was a fantastic challenge! It is such a great addition to my growing collection, can’t wait to get more!

A stunning creation. I do not recommend for a beginner to start with such a model, but having said that, putting this one together for an experienced hand is just marvellous. The way they tackled the skull shape and recreated it is just incredible and fun to build.
It can be fiddly putting together the gastralia and belly plates with the ribs already assembled with the spine, but other than that, it goes together with no issues and minimal sanding.
