Description

Tyrannosaurus rex is probably the most popular dinosaur, its proportions have fascinated experts and fans for decades. This deluxe version is based on the fossil FMNH PR 2081, popularly known as “Sue”, which is one of the most complete T. rex skeletons of the more than 30 found to date.

This model has unique details that make it the first of the DELUXE line. It is a precision model in which no feature of this iconic dinosaur is overlooked. Without a doubt, the Tyrannosaurus rex DELUXE 1:20 scale model is an exceptional representation of what was once one of the greatest predators that have existed on the planet.

In real life, Tyrannosaurus rex’s long, muscular tail served as a counterweight to its huge, heavy skull. In fossil-based bone reconstructions there is no such musculature, and the front part of the skeletons is supported by a support. To avoid breaking the harmony of the model, at WONDER Artistic Models we have devised a tension support with the help of a thread that is included in the packaging.

Our Tyrannosaurus rex DELUXE has the typical theropod stance and over time takes on a stalking look leaning slightly forward once the wood rests. With this model you can decide whether to wait for time to do its job until you take it to the stalking position or to maintain it with the initial upright position with the help of the tension support that we have designed.

Features included in this deluxe version include the following:
– His ribs lean backwards.
– It has several layers in the leg pieces to achieve the volume that these huge bones had.
– Includes a base engraved with the name of the species and the scale in which it is designed.
– It has the typical curvature of the ilium bones of the hip.
– It has an original and discreet tension support (optional).
– Includes a multi-page brochure (in Spanish and English) with outstanding information on the species, fossil photographs and 3D illustrations.

It also has a video tutorial to support you in the assembly process, in which you will see the step by step of each assembly with tips and recommendations to do it in the best possible way.

The jaw, the base of the skull and the tail are articulated in 3 sections to achieve a good curving effect. All these details make this model enjoy a completely surprising realism in this type of buildable models.

    Me ha encantado todo. Desde el empaquetado, que lleva 0 plástico, hasta los materiales, que es madera sin tóxicos. Las instrucciones son suficientes para armar el modelo, pero si lo combinas con los tutoriales que tienen en youtube es aún mejor. Una grata experiencia que repetiré.

    I love this T-Rex model. It was a long build and the instructions helped a lot. I did break one of the hip bones but taped it together. I like being able to choose to tie the model or not to get a more upright or stalking pose.

    This model is an excellent piece to have on display. The building process can be a little tricky and/or frustrating but it is well worth it seeing it in all its glory when it is completed.

    Don’t worry if you break parts! The company provides replacements.

    This excellent model/ puzzle is a far cry from those old wooden puzzles we were once stuck with. This piece is incredibly accurate down to the horozontal posture, gastralia and binocular vision. Surprisingly sturdy, a must have for any dinosaur lover.

    I feel it is important to mention to all potential buyers how much thought went into this model, I can tell that Wonder has put some serious concideration into every part of the model because every single time I broke something it just so happened that the bit I broke was one of the few with spares! (And I broke like 4 parts). Also as well as just the sprues holding the parts, the kit came with a guide for the tricky sections of the build, a peg to help punch out the smaller components, sandpaper incase anything doesn’t fit quite right and a white thread for those of us who want the rex to maintain an upright posture. You can build the entire kit from start to finish with only the products inside the box which I just love. I would also like to mension how well the peices are holding together, the model is quite sturdy and I have no fear of it falling apart some day. Lastly One thing I noticed while building is that one completly hidden component inside the head does NOT feature the orange tint on the edges of every other part in the kit, that means that this was intentionaly done to every visible part of the model just because it looks pretty. Now THAT reaks of quality to me!

    I was unsure of this one before I bought it, the expert level intimidated me and from the pictures I was scared it didn’t do the tyrant lizard king justice. Boy was I wrong. After spending 4 hours up close and personal with this build I came to appreciate the attention and level of detail that went into this model. Its intricate design makes this an iconic model that is an essential piece of the collection.
    That being said, this one almost made me rip my hair out. I have not before attempted an expert model and it was very noticeable. Never before have I broken so many pieces, luckily these models come with plenty of spare parts and the ones that don’t have spare parts can be glued together easily. One thing I really didn’t like was the way you have to assemble the ribs. Maybe I did something wrong, but it was incredibly frustrating and confusing to assemble the ribcage. It kept falling apart and the pieces were very hard to put in to place properly. I have not had this issue with other models. I ended up using a lot of glue to hold everything into place.
    This, however, does not take away from the beauty of this model. Even if it has one broken rib (luckily Sue has these too) it still looks breathtaking.
    I will definitely be buying more of these models!

    Absolutely stunning modes. I absolutely adore everything about it.
    I purchased this one along with the Tyrannosaurus skull and juveniles. This model is labeled as more advanced, and for good reason! I would not recommend this model for anybody who is just getting into these products, as it was noticeably more challenging than other models that I have purchased in the past. The skull was very impressive. I built the separate skull (larger, another item in the shop) first, and I noticed that the larger skull and skull in this model were very similarly put together. I would recommend being very careful with the skull on this model, as I sometimes held it wrong and moved the pieces.

    Overall beautiful. Not for beginners, make sure to have some glue on you.

    I bought this and the spinosaurus model for my oddities collection (I like pairing dinosaur teeth with a model of the species). The T-Rex was definitely more difficult than the spinosaurus (what else to you expect from an expert level deluxe model lol) but as someone who had absolutely 0 experience putting together 3D puzzles, this was so much fun! The videos are an absolute life saver, and I recommend you watch the video BEFORE you put together the model, then if you’re confused while building (I was, especially with the spino’s legs!) refer back to it. Made the process so much quicker!
    The only issue I had with the T-Rex –that I didn’t with the Spinosaurus– was that NONE of the rib peices fit into the holes so I had to sand every single one (one I sanded too much and had to glue in) but it only really added an extra half an hour of work into putting it together so I’m not going to knock a star for it. Beautiful peice that I hope to one day display a tooth next to! As I continue to collect dinosaur fossils, I’ll be sure to buy more models from this company (recently came into possession of a mammoth tusk chunk so I’ll be looking forward to buying the mammoth model!). Absolutely amazing quality at a great price

    I ordered giganotosaurus, spinosaurus, and tyrannosaurus. I built the other two first and ended with tyrannosaurus. I’m glad I did because this model does have some more intricate builds for the head and torso. If this is your first one you may want to look at one like giganotosaurus, but if you have built these before then you’ll love this one. This model captures the massiveness of the animal and the end product looks phenomenal.

    Very high quality, amazingly well buit and accurate as a paleoart model. Everything you could ask for as someone passionate about dinosaurs!

    I’ve acquired the T. Rex model last Christmas and was very impressed with it it after assembled. I really enjoyed the creative ways they found to make it look like a real skeleton, like the bulk of the femur and the articulations of the cranium. One can see how much research was done and how much they care about being up to date with paleontology. The tutorials on youtube are great as well.
    I’ve liked it so much that I’ve decided to buy one every year.
    Looking foward to give a 5 star review as well to the Triceratops and the Tupandactylus!
